Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy Z TriFold, a device that pushes the boundaries of what a smartphone can be. Building on over a decade of foldable innovation, the Galaxy Z TriFold combines portability and productivity with a unique multi-folding design that transforms the way you use a phone.

When fully unfolded, the Galaxy Z TriFold reveals a massive 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, delivering a tablet-like experience for multitasking, creativity, and cinematic viewing. The screen functions like three 6.5-inch smartphones side by side, allowing users to run multiple apps simultaneously or resize windows for optimal workflow. Despite its large display, the Galaxy Z TriFold maintains a slim 3.9mm profile at its thinnest point and a folded weight of 309 grams, keeping it practical for everyday carry. Samsung’s engineers have implemented an inward-folding mechanism, reinforced Armor FlexHinges, and titanium hinge housing, along with an auto-alert system that warns against incorrect folding, emphasising both durability and user-friendliness.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Z TriFold is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy and offers 16GB of RAM with up to 1TB of internal storage. It also looks equally capable in the camera department, with a triple rear camera setup featuring a 200MP wide camera, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and up to 30x digital zoom. The 5,600 mAh three-cell battery supports 45W super-fast charging, 15W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging, providing all-day endurance for power users.

The Galaxy Z TriFold also integrates Samsung’s latest Galaxy AI features, and for those who want a portable workstation, Samsung DeX allows access to up to four workspaces running multiple apps simultaneously.

Visually, the device impresses with a Dynamic 2X AMOLED cover screen at 6.5 inches, supporting up to 2,600 nits peak brightness and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The main display reaches 1,600 nits peak brightness and also supports 120Hz.

The Catch for Kiwi Fans

While the Galaxy Z TriFold will launch in select markets, including Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, and the UAE, starting December 12, 2025, New Zealand is not included in the first-generation rollout. Samsung has not announced a local release date, but given the company’s history with foldables, it’s possible we may see a second-generation Galaxy Z TriFold land on our shores. For now, Kiwi tech enthusiasts will have to admire this engineering marvel from afar, but Samsung’s commitment to expanding its foldable lineup suggests the wait may not be too long.

If you’re eager to get your foldable fix in the meantime, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 are available at PB Tech. They might not fold three ways, but they’re still packed with cutting-edge tech and offer a glimpse of what Samsung’s foldable future looks like.
