The OPPO Find N3 is a premium horizontal foldable that gets a lot right. It’s impressively thin, it folds completely flat, and has a near-invisible crease, making it feel sleek and well-refined.
The displays are smooth and vibrant, the performance is solid, and the cameras are surprisingly good for a foldable.
Now it’s not perfect, there’s no wireless charging, and the IPX4 rating means you’ll want to keep it away from dust and sand, but overall, the Find N3 is one of the best tablet-style foldables available in New Zealand, providing some good competition to the limited options we have here.

Competitors
In New Zealand, we don’t get a lot of horizontally folding phones like the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 or the Huawei Mate X3…yet. So really, the only competitor to OPPO’s Find N3 is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 and its predecessor the Z Fold5.
Design & Hinge
The OPPO Find N3 features a sleek and premium build with a glass front, eco-leather back, and aluminium frame. It’s comfortable to hold and use in both the unfolded and folded modes. Of course, with phones like this, when it comes to thickness, it's essentially two ‘standard’ phones stuck together, but it strikes a good balance between portability and usability and it doesn’t feel overly cumbersome.
Here are its exact dimensions:
- Folded: 153.4 mm (H) × 73.3 mm (W) × 11.7 mm (T)
- Unfolded: 153.4 mm (H) × 143.1 mm (W) × 5.8 mm (T)
- Weight: 239g (glass) / 245g (eco-leather)
At 5.8mm when unfolded, the Find N3 is super thin. Although it seems minor, this is a standout feature. It makes the device feel more like a standard tablet when open and I found it very easy to hold one-handed this way.
This uses OPPO’s third-generation Flexion Hinge, and it solves some issues I’ve had with previous foldables in that it allows the Find N3 to fold completely flat. This eliminates gaps which can be frustrating in these sorts of phones. Additionally, the crease is minimal, making it barely noticeable during use.
OPPO has rated the hinge for over 1,000,000 folds, which is impossible for me to test but if true allows for long-term durability. The hinge also provides a solid, sturdy feel - when unfolded, it feels like a rigid tablet rather than a foldable device. It doesn’t wobble or shift when moved or tapped.
If you haven’t used a phone like this before, one of the most attractive features is FlexForm mode. This allows you to set the phone up like a laptop. Unfortunately, not all apps support this but there are a few, my favourite being YouTube. The video plays on the top screen, while comments and suggested videos appear on the bottom, making it great for hands-free viewing.
The phone has an IPX4 rating, meaning it's splash-resistant, though not fully waterproof. Crucially it also means it's not resistant to sand. I do not advise taking this phone to the beach, sand will get in the crease and it can cause significant issues.

Display
The OPPO Find N3 has two high-quality displays, both using LTPO OLED panels with a 120Hz dynamic refresh rate:
- Cover Display: 6.31 inches, 1116 × 2484 pixels, 2800 nits peak brightness, Dolby Vision support
- Inner Display: 7.82 inches, 2268 × 2440 pixels, 2800 nits peak brightness, Dolby Vision support
The larger inner display is excellent for watching videos, gaming, and reading content. With 2800 nits of peak brightness, it remains easily visible even in direct sunlight, and Dolby Vision support ensures excellent contrast and vivid colours. The 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and animations feel buttery smooth.
The 6.31-inch cover screen has the same 120Hz refresh rate and 2800 nits peak brightness, ensuring smooth performance and excellent visibility.
Annoyingly, it can be difficult to find a case that works well with these sorts of devices. The good news is OPPO has reinforced the cover screen with ultra-thin Nanocrystal Glass, which supposedly improves drop resistance by up to 5 times and impact resistance by 70%. We’re just going to have to take OPPO’s word for this, as I’m not brave enough to drop it in order to verify its integrity, but it's nice to see OPPO taking measures to make the device stronger, a common weak point with foldables.

Cameras
If you’ve seen a premium OPPO phone, like the Find X8 Pro, you’ll be familiar with the Cosmos Ring Camera array, the big circular bump on the back of the phone. You'll either love it or hate it. It’s certainly showy, and it stands out. If you prefer a more subtle design, this could be a frustration point. However, there’s a good reason for this bold choice: it houses some excellent camera hardware.
The Find N3 is equipped with a triple-camera setup:
- 48 MP Main Camera – f/1.7, OIS, 1/1.43" sensor
- 64 MP Periscope Telephoto – f/2.6, OIS, 3x optical zoom, 6x in-sensor zoom, 70mm
- 48 MP Ultra-Wide – f/2.2, 114° FOV, PDAF
When compared to premium smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra or the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max, this array doesn’t compete, however for a foldable device, it’s a decent offering allowing you to take some great images.
The periscope telephoto lens allows for detailed zoom photography, capturing sharp images at distance without excessive noise or blur. With optical image stabilisation (OIS), even handheld zoom shots remain steady.
Additionally, FlexForm Mode lets you prop the phone up to take selfies and hands-free shots, making it great for video calls, long-exposure shots, and stable photography.
Performance
The OPPO Find N3 has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which is an older chipset. As a comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra uses the newer Gen 3 chipset, and the S25 Ultra uses an even better Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite.
To see how it stacked up, we ran the Find N3 through some tests. A Geekbench 6 test, which measures CPU performance in both single-core and multi-core tasks, and a 3DMark Wildlife Extreme test, which tests GPU performance by simulating high-end gaming scenarios.
The results were decent, but not market-leading:
- Geekbench 6 CPU Test
- Single-core score: 1555
- Multi-core score: 5006
- 3DMark Wildlife Extreme GPU Test
- Score: 3628
- Average FPS: 21.73
For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, which has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, scored 2259 in single-core, 7150 in multi-core, and 4867 in 3DMark Wildlife Extreme (29.14 FPS average).
The Find N3’s CPU performance is behind newer flagship phones, but it’s still fast enough for everyday tasks. Gaming performance is good, though demanding games won’t run as smoothly as they would on newer hardware. The 120Hz display helps keep animations fluid, and general app performance is quick with no major slowdowns.

Battery
The 4805mAh battery lasts a full day, with 6-7 hours of screen-on time. Charging speeds are some of the fastest in a foldable:
- 67W SUPERVOOC fast charging (80% in 30 minutes)
- No wireless charging
While battery life is solid, the lack of wireless charging is a missed opportunity at this price.
Verdict
The OPPO Find N3 gets a lot right. It’s sleek, well-built, has a hinge that folds completely flat, and is comfortably thin. The displays are fantastic, they’re bright, have a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and a crease that you’ll only notice if you go looking for it. If you’re in the market for this sort of phone, it’s a joy to use.
Performance is solid, though the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 means it’s not quite on par with the latest flagships. The bold camera bump is pretty divisive, you’ll either love it or find it a bit much but for a foldable, the cameras on offer here are very good, especially with the periscope zoom.
Battery life holds up well, and 67W fast charging is a great addition, but no wireless charging feels like a missed opportunity. Another drawback is the IPX4 rating, it’s fine for splashes, but dust and sand are a real concern, so it’s not one for the beach.
Despite a few trade-offs, the Find N3 is one of the best foldables out there. If you want a premium design, excellent displays, and a well-engineered hinge, it’s a strong choice.
