There are always new smartphones hitting the market and the ones getting all the craze can leave quite a dent in your wallet. Not everyone needs a fancy smartphone though, so we thought we’d take some time to appreciate some great low-cost options. The Vivo Y70 is one of the smartphones that spring to mind as it offers fantastic value for an affordable price, and like other smartphones from the Vivo range, it has dual SIM!

If you haven’t heard of the company before, Vivo is a smartphone manufacturer that has a knack for creating great-value smartphones. They’re one of the lesser-known Chinese phone brands, but as they continue to innovate, we could be seeing more of them over the coming years. Their X series is their flagship series, with the Y series being a more recent addition.

The Vivo Y70 was released in 2020 and has a solid offering for its low cost! It has a vibrant AMOLED display that’s 6.4-inches, with a 1080 x 2400 pixel resolution. Whether you’re browsing photos or watching YouTube videos, you’ll enjoy a display that delivers bright and vivid images. When it comes to taking your own images, don’t set your expectations too high at this price range. That being said, you still get a somewhat decent 48MP AI triple camera, with a 16MP wide selfie camera.

The battery life is also a decent size at 4,100mAh, which is bigger than what you’ll find in other smartphones this affordable. It’s certainly enough to keep you going all day long, and when you do need to re-charge, 33W fast charging will get you back up to 100% in no time.

Considering the price, the V70 has to give somewhere and it doesn’t have the fastest performance. While it’s not the best option for playing games or jumping between multiple apps, it provides solid performance for all the basics. If you just need a smartphone for staying in touch, browsing the internet, and watching videos, this is a great option that’s easy on your wallet.

Vivo Y11S Smartphone - Super affordable

If you want to spend even less on your next smartphone, the Vivo Y11S might be a better option at less than $200! The Y11s features a 6.51-inch Halo FullView Display with HD+ (1600x720) resolution, delivering a wide and immersive view that’s great for watching videos. The display also filters out harmful blue light to prevent eye strain.

If you want to take good photos, you’ll have to sacrifice this for the cheaper price. The Vivo 11S has a 13MP AI dual rear camera. Although the camera falls shorter, the Y11S has a larger battery than the Y70 at 5,000mAh. Supported by AI power-saving technology, a single full charge can provide up to 16 hours of online HD movie streaming. It is also engineered with 5V/1A Reverse Charging, so your Y11s can be used to charge other devices, like a mobile power bank.

If you want to step it up a notch, the Vivo X50 Lite is the way to go. This modern, stylish, and sleek phone comes with some great specs, at an amazingly affordable mid-range price! It has a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2400 pixel resolution. Right beneath the display is a fingerprint sensor that’s reported to have good responsiveness and accuracy.

The X50 Lite comes with rear quad cameras made up of a 48MP main wide camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor. If you’re big on photos and low prices, this one will likely top the list for you. It also comes with a bunch of features including night mode, portrait, AI 48MP, panorama, Live photo, slo-mo, time-lapse, and more!

With 4,500mAh of battery, the X50 Lite is very capable of keeping you going all day long. Each full charge should provide up to 517 hours of standby and 125 hours of music. It also has dual-engine fast charge which can get your phone from 1 to 70% in just one hour!

Vivo is just one of many great brands that are putting out great-value, low-cost smartphones. Make sure you head over to PB Tech to check out NZ’s largest range of smartphones!
