Following a flurry of excitement from around the world, the new Nintendo Switch 2 is set to release on June 6th in New Zealand! There are two console options available for those wanting to get theirs on day-one, the Nintendo Switch 2 Game Console stand-alone, and another Nintendo Switch 2 Game Console + Mario Kart World Game Bundle.
Engineered for performance and comfortable gaming, the Nintendo Switch 2 offers gamers a larger, high-resolution display, updated Joy-Con controllers that enable mouse-like control options and now attach via a magnetic interface for reduced mechanical wear, in-game co-op gaming communication in a larger, but similar shape.

Diving straight into the essentials the Switch 2 will be able to play most Switch 1 games, as well as new ones exclusive to the Switch 2, there is also a new memory card requirement in that new MicroSD Express Memory Cards are needed for the Switch 2, so be sure to get one when you buy your Switch 2, as the old cards just can't keep up with the new speeds.
The Nintendo Switch 2 represents a significant generational leap in performance and system architecture. Built around a custom NVIDIA SoC (system-on-a-chip), the new platform integrates a next-generation GPU featuring dedicated Ray Tracing Cores and Tensor Cores, enabling real-time rendering enhancements and Ai-accelerated workloads, the platform delivers up to 10x increase in raw GPU throughput compared to the original Switch, with a focus on maximising performance-per-watt for handheld viability.
With all this, the Switch 2 supports native rendering up to 3840x2160 resolution to the TV while docked, HDR for super vibrant colours, and up to 120 FPS at 1080p in handheld mode. Another advantage for the Switch 2 is the massive boost performance-wise that comes along with support for NVIDIA DLSS which PC gamers have been enjoying for a few years now, and it really can't be understated how incredible DLSS is at delivering those high framerates in our favourite games.
Technical bits aside it's all about the fun times ahead, the Nintendo Switch 2 is set to continue the already excellent legacy of the original Switch console, but with more games, a bigger screen and more multi-player fun!
