Samsung has officially announced its first major event for the year, Galaxy Unpacked, and it's just around the corner.

This is the company’s flagship event, where it unveils its latest innovations and devices, like smartphones, smartwatches and more.

This is one of the most anticipated events on the tech calendar, last year's Unpacked Event revealed the Galaxy Z Flip6, Z Fold6, Galaxy Watch Ultra, the Galaxy Ring and loads more, so there’s plenty to look forward to, with this year's event.

In this article we’ll cover everything you need to know regarding when and where to watch the event in New Zealand, and what you might be able to expect to see throughout the event.

When is Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025 in New Zealand?

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025 will be held in San Jose, USA on January 22nd at 10.00am PT. This means we’ll be able to watch it here in New Zealand at 7.00am NZDT on Thursday January 23rd.

Where can I watch Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025 in New Zealand?

Good news, it's incredibly easy to watch Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025 in New Zealand. It will be livestreamed on the official Samsung website Samsung.com, Samsung Global Newsroom and on Samsung’s YouTube Channel

What to expect at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025

There have been a number of rumours and leaks regarding what we’ll see at Galaxy Unpacked 2025, however Samsung's very own invitation to the event provides us with the best clues regarding what we might see.

The invitation states, “Get ready for AI that is more natural and intuitive. The next evolution of Galaxy AI is coming and it’s going to change the way you interact with the world every day. The new Galaxy S series is about to set the bar once again for mobile AI experiences now and into the future.”

From that we can pretty accurately assume we’ll be seeing Samsung’s latest flagship phones, the Samsung Galaxy S25 range. If the 2024 Unpacked event is anything to go off, we’ll be seeing three phones in the S25 range, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25+ and the standard Galaxy S25.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Range

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is shaping up to be an exciting upgrade, with significant design, performance, and camera improvements.

Leaks suggest the device will feature a flat frame with rounded corners, giving it a refined and ergonomic design. It’s also rumoured to be thinner than previous models, with a sleek 8.2mm profile.

The camera system is expected to see major enhancements, including a 50MP ultra-wide sensor with 3x optical zoom, optical image stabilisation (OIS), and an F1.9 aperture, promising sharper and more versatile photography.

On the display front, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is said to offer anti-reflection properties similar to the S24 Ultra, ensuring excellent outdoor visibility. However, it’s rumoured that Samsung will not use the latest M14 materials for the screen, which might give some competitors an edge in display technology.

The phone will reportedly be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset worldwide, delivering smoother 120Hz gaming and enhanced performance. Concerns about potential heating issues with the chip are expected to be addressed by a larger vapor chamber.

These updates suggest Samsung is focusing on meaningful improvements in design, performance, and camera capabilities for its next flagship device.

For the lower models, like the S25+ and the standard S25 we will most likely see slightly worse cameras, performance capabilities and displays when compared to the S25 Ultra. But none of this can be confirmed until 7.00am NZDT on Thursday January 23rd.
