It’s that time of the year again! The new Samsung Galaxy S24 series has officially landed in New Zealand and it brings with it a host of new mobile experiences with Galaxy AI. This latest generation of Samsung’s Galaxy S series leads the way into a new era - powered by AI - forever changing the mobile landscape and empowering users in new ways.
At first glance, the upgrades aren’t strikingly noticeable. The design of the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ is very similar to the Galaxy S23 series, but with slimmer bezels and the brightest Galaxy display ever, reaching 2,600 nit peak brightness. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, however, sports a titanium frame. Titanium is much lighter and thinner than aluminum, while being stronger and more durable. Additionally, the 24 Ultra has swapped out the curved screen design for a flat screen and has optically enhanced glass that reduces reflections by up to 75%. The most significant change to look forward to in the S24 series is the debut of Galaxy AI and the fresh mobile experiences it introduces. This AI enhances almost all aspects of the Galaxy S series from enabling barrier-free communication with intelligent text and call translation, to expanding creative possibilities with the Galaxy's ProVisual Engine, to elevating search to new heights.

Galaxy AI enhances communication with features like Samsung Keyboard and Live Translate, which offer real-time voice and text translations, enabling you to seamlessly converse with people in 13 different languages. Then there are features like Note Assist (in Samsung Notes) which will generate summaries and streamlines note-taking with pre-made templates; Chat Assist, which helps perfect conversational tones; Transcript Assist which transcribes, summarises, and translates voice recordings; and more!
Creativity is also taken to new heights thanks to the new ProVisual Engine - a comprehensive suite of AI-powered tools that not only helps you take better shots, but also enhances the photo editing process. The built-in editing tools allow you to do things like remove unwanted objects, reposition a subject, fill the background, and more with ease. This unlocks a world of potential without needing to invest in expensive photo editing software or apps, nor do you need to have skills to pull it off.
It gets better - the Galaxy S24 is the first Galaxy phone to debut intuitive, gesture-driven Circle to Search with Google. This awesome feature enables you to circle, highlight, scribble on, or tap virtually anything on Galaxy S24’s screen to see helpful, high-quality search results. See a gorgeous landmark in the background of someone’s social media post or a surprising fun fact on TikTok? With the Galaxy S24, circle it to search with Google to learn more – all without having to leave the app that you’re in. How epic is that?
Of course, all of these powerful new functions will need powerful processors to support it. The new Galaxy S24 Ultra packs the most power and is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy. This new chipset has a CPU that is 20% more powerful than the previous generation, a GPU that is 26% more powerful, and an NPU that is 42% faster, offering incredibly efficient processing. The new models also support Ray Tracing and have 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rates which improve performance efficiency. The S24 Ultra also boasts an optimal thermal control system with a vapour changer that is 1.9x larger, optimising performance while gaming.
