JBL Live Free 2 and Live Pro 2
JBL has quite the range of affordable True Wireless Earbuds, so you could say they’re pretty experienced in this category. Two of the latest additions to their range are the JBL LIVE Free 2 and JBL LIVE Pro 2 Noise Cancelling Earbuds. They both feature JBL’s Signature Sound, True Adaptive Noise Cancelling with smart ambient features, improved battery life, and six microphones for perfect voice call quality.
Both options have a simple design with the JBL logo on each earbud. The LIVE Pro 2 has a ‘stick’ design with 11mm dynamic drivers, while the LIVE Free 2 has a pill shaped design with 10mm dynamic drivers. They are both available in Blue and Black and are almost identical in their specifications. Appearances aside, the main difference to note is the battery life. The LIVE Pro 2 offers up to 40 hours playback (10 hours in the earbud, 30 hours from the charging case) while the LIVE Free 2 offers battery life of up to 35 hours playback (7 hours in the earbud, 28 hours from the charging case).
The Live PRO 2 has slightly larger dynamic drivers, adding a bit of extra oomph to the sound. Elsewhere, they’re pretty much on par with each other. With True Adaptive Noise Cancelling with smart ambient, you can adjust the amount of background noise to let in so you can stay aware of your surrounding or enjoy conversations without having to remove the earbuds. Hands-free support on the dedicated JBL headphone app also allows easy access to preferred voice assistants. The IPX5 waterproof and splash proof rating make them a great fit for a variety of activities, both in and outdoors.
Skullcandy Sesh
Skullcandy's Sesh earbuds bring premium 4-mic digital active noise cancelling. Unlike 2-mic systems commonly found in affordable noise-canceling products, Sesh ANC can detect and cancel noise in the full range of sounds you can hear.
Even with active noise cancellation, the Sesh earbuds have a reasonable battery life. You'll get up to 6 hours with ANC on, and the case charges the buds 4 times between plug-ins. If you've ever been in the position where your earphones die just as you're about to hit the gym, you'll appreciate the Rapid Charge on these. In the first 10 minutes of charge, you can get 2 hours of battery life – enough to last you an entire workout and a bit!
Don't worry about how they'll hold up in the gym either, because they have an IP55 rating for sweat, water and dust resistance. That means that there's no need to panic (or even hit pause) if you're working up a serious sweat or find yourself caught in the rain.
Panasonic RZ-B310
The Sony RZ-B310 has a basic all-black design with a small white Panasonic label on the stick. They’re small, lightweight, and use an 'Ergofit' canal type structure that keeps that comfortably and securely in place. This makes them great for all-day wear! They also ferature touch sensors on both earbuds, so you can instantly switch between calls and music. You can also toggle like Active Noise Cancellation, Ambience Mode, or skip tracks.
The RZ-B310 features 10mm dynamic drivers with XBS (eXtra Bass System). This results in a nuanced, detailed, and neutral sound. It’s light and laidback in nature, with warm bass. They’ll provide great sound for the average listener who’s not too picky about sound profiles, but if you’re after rich sound, these won’t be the ones for you. For this price point, they get a big tick! These earbuds provide 5 hours of playback; going up to 16 hours when combined with the case. They have an IPX4 water resistant rating meaning they’re all good to wear while you workout. The Panasonic RZ-B310 is a well-rounded pair of true wireless earphones.
