The Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max is currently the best iPhone on the market offering a beautiful display, long-lasting battery life, blistering performance, and powerful camera amongst other things. If you’ve got well-lined pockets, or simply don’t mind spending a bit extra for the upgrades you get, this could be the ultimate smartphone for you. But just what does the iPhone 12 Pro Max have to offer that makes it stand above the rest of the lineup?
Display
The iPhone 12 Pro Max is the biggest iPhone yet sporting a 6.7” Super Retina XDR display. Images on the 12 Pro Max are clearer with more screen real-estate, making it wicked for watching movies on, and for seeing more of your pictures and web pages. It’s one of the best displays on the market, able to produce both colourful scenes and more subtle tones with ease.
Like on the 12 Pro, the 12 Pro Max display is encased behind an all-new Ceramic Shield glass, making it one of the most durable iPhones yet. Ceramic Shield is made by introducing nanoceramic crystals - which are actually harder than most metals - into glass. It’s a first in any smartphone, and is tougher than any smartphone glass. Additionally, Apple has used a dual ion-exchange process to make the glass scratch-resistant, ensuring it’s protected against nicks, scratches, and everyday wear and tear. The glass sits flush to the edge of the phone, which helps protect it, even more, providing 4x better drop performance.
Camera
Display aside, the main feature that sets the iPhone 12, Pro Max, apart from the rest of the line-up is the improved camera system. The 12 Pro Max camera system has a combination of a larger sensor, faster lens, improved image stabilization, LIDAR, and more processing power!
Like the others in the lineup, the iPhone 12 Pro Max has a (main) wide camera; an ultra-wide camera; and a telephoto camera. While the ultrawide is the same as that on the 12 and 12 Pro, the wide camera and telephoto have fairly substantial improvements. The wide lens has a 47% larger physical sensor that lets in more light with less noise, making it dramatically better at capturing clear photos in low light conditions. Additionally, it has a maximum ISO of 7,616 (while the iPhone 12 Pro has a maximum ISO of 5,808). It also has improved image-stabilization to reduce vibrations and blur for more crisp images.
The telephoto camera has a longer 2.5x zoom so you can get tighter shots. Paired with Apple’s Smart HDR3 which has excellent noise reduction, and accurate, vibrant colours, it’s capable of pulling off some pretty sweet close up shots.
iPhones are known for capturing beautiful, crisp, and colourful photos, and the 12 Pro Max has the best camera from Apple yet! If you’re looking for a smartphone with an excellent camera, the 12 Pro Max is without a doubt the leader of the lineup here.
Battery
Not only does the iPhone 12 Pro Max deliver more in terms of display, performance, and camera systems, but it also has the best battery life. The 12 Pro Max has a 3,687 mAh battery - the biggest of the lineup. A battery test by Tom’s Guide found that the iPhone 12 Pro Max's battery lasted an impressive 10 hours and 53 minutes (over 5G). That’s nearly two hours more than the iPhone 12 Pro!
Overview
There’s no doubt that the iPhone 12 Pro Max is Apple’s best iPhone yet. With the biggest display, and a truly impressive camera system, it’s the best iPhone for creatives or anyone who appreciates great visuals. While it is the priciest of the lineup, it’s not significantly more than the iPhone 12 Pro, and it does come with impressive upgrades. Thinking of getting an iPhone 12 Pro Max for yourself?
