ASUS ROG (Republic of Gamers), a household name in the world of gaming, is continuing its commitment to innovation, with its new ‘ROG Extreme Series’ peripherals, promising gamers the best in performance, aesthetics, and overall gaming experience. The latest additions to the ROG family, the ROG Azoth Extreme Keyboard and the ROG Harpe Ace Extreme Mouse, boast a range of premium features, and if you’re looking for high-quality offerings to add to your setup, you will no doubt want to hear about these. Let’s check them out!
ASUS ROG Azoth Extreme Keyboard
The ROG Azoth Extreme is a top-of-the-line keyboard, aimed at those who don’t want to compromise when choosing peripherals for their PC setup. It’s not every day you hear of a keyboard having carbon fibre!
The chassis consists of a premium aluminium alloy and is accompanied by a metal frame. ROG has designed the keyboard to have a gorgeous, bladed pattern. They’ve really put a lot of effort into this one. The lower chassis is built in 12 steps, which include sandblasting, anodizing, CNC machining, and more. The result is a keyboard that you’ll struggle to take your eyes off, which may actually be a problem if you’re trying to concentrate on your game! If you know anything about the cost and process behind machining a keyboard frame, especially in this intricate design, then the higher price tag on the ROG Azoth starts to make sense. The carbon fibre comes into play with the positioning plate, replicating the rigidity of metal positioning plates, while utilising the elasticity of carbon fibre to provide great shock absorption and keep mid-typing vibrations to a minimum. Arguably the best thing about it though, is being able to tell your friends that your keyboard is made with carbon fiber. So that’s also worth noting. The ROG Azoth also has three-layer dampening, with 2 PORON layers above a silicon pad, all of which work together to absorb vibrations better and reduce switch pinging and echoes, for ultimate acoustics when typing. Switch pinging is a ringing sound that is common when you press keys on a keyboard using metal springs. It’s not ideal, so for those relaxing keyboard acoustics, the three-layer dampening is a welcome addition.
Although this is a keyboard aimed at gamers, your regular daily productivity tasks have not been forgotten. The adjustable gasket mount design allows for instant switching between hard and soft typing mode. For gaming, you can employ hard typing mode, offering a quick rebound, which is ideal. Alternatively, if you’re looking to get some work done and will be typing for an extended period of time, the soft mode offers a more flexible keypress which provides a greater level of comfort as you type.

The ROG Azoth Extreme is a 75% keyboard, meaning it has 75% of the keys that a full keyboard would have. Those keys are customisable, and your level of control extends to an upgraded OLED touchscreen and a three-way knob which can be used for system monitoring and seamless adjustments. Keyboards with mini displays are certainly not new, but it’s not as common to find ones which have an OLED display, showing the premium quality of this one. In the box, ASUS has included 2 pairs of magnetic feet which allow for 3 tilt angles depending on your ergonomic preferences. This is instead of the typical folding feet which you will see on most keyboards. These can at times be flimsy, so the magnetic feet are not just aesthetically pleasing, they also serve a purpose with their sturdy build quality as well. Another inclusion is the extended silicone wrist rest, which creates a more ergonomic experience when gaming or working. A wrist rest is not always included with keyboards, but understandably at this price range, ASUS has provided one. It should also be noted that if you’re looking for that blade design mentioned earlier, then you’ll need to add the wrist rest to your keyboard. Meanwhile in the lighting department, individually lit keys mean you can customise your RGB to make the keyboard truly unique, and a range of dynamic lighting effects are also available.

Performance-wise, the Azoth Extreme has an 8000 Hz report rate, which is huge! This is courtesy of the ROG Polling Rate Booster (included in the box). For hardcore gamers, this super high report rate will no doubt provide a competitive edge. The higher the report rate, the more often your keyboard will send information back to your computer, so with a rate that high, you sure won’t miss a beat. What’s even better, is that you can get up to 8000 Hz from the ROG Azoth whether you’re plugged in or wireless, which is really convenient. It also gets more than a whopping 1600 hours of battery life, when in ROG SpeedNova 2.4 GHz wireless mode. That’s more than 66 days of continuous use. So battery life is definitely not an issue here. In Bluetooth mode, you can connect up to 3 devices at the same time and you also have the option to charge and play simultaneously when in wired USB mode.
Overall, this is an extremely well-built keyboard, aimed at gamers and keyboard enthusiasts who spare no expense in their pursuit of the best gaming keyboard for an ultimate experience. It performs as well as it looks, and packs specs that are rare to come across, and even rarer to top.
ASUS ROG Harpe Ace Extreme Mouse
To complement their ROG Azoth Extreme, ASUS has the ROG Harpe Ace Extreme mouse. ASUS says the esports-pro-approved mouse is designed to help you evolve into the legend you’re meant to be.
The wireless mouse is made from a carbon fibre composite. Choosing a material that is commonly associated with performance is no doubt a reflection of ASUS ROG’s commitment to creating peripherals for next-gen gaming excellence. The key selling point of carbon fibre is its remarkable weight-to-strength ratio, which means you get a lightweight (weighing just 47 grams), yet durable gaming mouse. ASUS has also performed testing to show that carbon fibre, when compared with other materials used in premium mice, is able to withstand the most force before showing any signs of damage. Much like the machined keyboard, creating a mouse from carbon fibre is not a simple process, and thus the Harpe Ace Extreme goes through an eight-stage manufacturing process. The weave patterns on the mouse’s exterior shell, and its gorgeous angles, are a great example of the craftsmanship that goes into these high-end mice.
The scroll wheel also has elevated tactility with its TTC gold scroll wheel encoder. If you’re wondering what that means, essentially the scroll encoder is made from gold-plated brass, a common way to improve tactility and subsequently the performance of a PC mouse, something that’s especially useful for gaming. It’s widely considered to be the ‘Gold Standard’ for scroll wheels and the Harpe Ace Extreme is no exception. Another aspect in which the ROG Harpe Ace aims for smoother and more effortless movement is by using glass skates, optimised for mouse pad users who want to experience better force adjustment and stopping power as well.

Much like the durability of the scroll wheel, you get the same level of care with the ROG Optical Micro Switches. ASUS ROG puts all switches through rigid testing and switches with a deviation of 5 gram-force are sorted together to ensure the clicks on both the left and right side of your mouse are consistent with each other. ROG guarantees that each switch on the Harpe Ace Extreme has a whopping lifespan of 100 million clicks. Enough to outlast the many long gaming sessions you will throw at it.
In terms of performance, the Optical Sensor on the Harpe Ace Extreme is rated at 42,000 DPI, meaning the cursor will move 42,000 pixels for every inch you move the mouse. Essentially you get a much more sensitive mouse which allows for quicker movement on-screen. There’s no doubt this will have a great impact on your gaming performance. If you’re not too familiar with DPI specs, 42,000 is a lot and definitely sets this mouse apart, even among other premium gaming mice. Another performance indicator is the report rate. Just like with the keyboard above, this reflects how often the mouse will send information to your computer. The ROG Harpe Ace has an 8,000 Hz report rate, and this is via wireless connection, so once again you’re getting the cream of the crop in terms of performance.
The ROG Harpe Ace Extreme is a very high-end gaming mouse, made using premium materials and via a comprehensive process. The carbon fibre construction and industry-leading performance specs will ensure you get a mouse that helps elevate your game.
