Samsung unveiled its latest innovations at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris earlier this month. Showcasing the power of Galaxy AI, the event highlighted a range of new products including the Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy Smart Ring, Galaxy Watch Ultra, Galaxy Watch7, and Galaxy Buds3 series. Let’s take a closer look at what was unveiled!
Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6
Samsung announced new versions of its two foldables - the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6. It’s the slimmest and lightest Galaxy Z models to date and supposedly the most durable too. They contain cutting-edge hinge technology that reduces the appearance of the crease in the display made from Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus® 2 and Armor Aluminum.
Both the Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. To enhance cooling, the Z Fold6 features an upgraded vapor chamber, while the Z Flip6 introduces this technology for the first time in the series.
The Galaxy Z Flip6’s AI camera system is something to love. It features a 50MP wide and 12MP ultra-wide sensor. The ProVisual Engine detects, analyses and optimizes subjects with AI, while FlexCam supports hands-free photography and videography for next-level filming.
Interpreter is an awesome new feature on both devices that makes use of the dual screen format. It allows you to communicate in different languages by leveraging the main screen and cover screen to translate conversations in real-time.

Samsung Galaxy Ring
The Galaxy Ring marks Samsung’s arrival in the smart ring market with a focus on wellness. Equipped with features such as an ECG sensor, sleep tracking tools, heart rate monitoring, and temperature, the ring aims to provide comprehensive health insights.
The Galaxy Smart Ring will automatically track walking and running, and sync this data to the Samsung Health app, offering detailed metrics like steps, exercise duration, and blood oxygen levels. For any other form of exercise, you’ll need to manually ‘tag’ this workout in the Health app.
Designed for a hassle-free “set and forget” experience, an unobtrusive form factor and long battery life means you barely have to think about the ring. Additionally, it’s water-resistant up to 100 meters meaning you don’t even need to take it off when you get in water.
The Galaxy Smart Ring will be available in the US on July 24th 2024 for $399 USD. It is unclear at this stage when and if the ring will be available in New Zealand.
Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra
Samsung announced two new smartwatches - the Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. The most powerful and premium device in the Galaxy Watch series, the brand new Galaxy Watch Ultra features high power efficiency, state-of-the-art sensors and a rugged design that’s ideal for adventure and extreme sports. It has the longest battery life of all the Galaxy Watches, capable of lasting up to 100 hours in power saving mode, and up to 48 hours when exercise power saving is enabled.
If the Ultra is overkill for your needs, perhaps the Galaxy Watch7 is the smartwatch you need. It’s the first to have a 3nm processor, which Samsung claims is three times faster with 30% better power efficiency. Other upgrades on the Watch7 include an upgrades operating system (with Wear OS 5 with Samsung’s One UI 6 interface), new dual-frequency GPS, gesture control, improved fitness features, and of course, AI integration.

Galaxy Buds3 and Galaxy Buds3 Pro
The new Galaxy Buds3 and Galaxy Buds3 Pro also made their debut at the event. The earbuds feature enhanced audio quality and Active Noise Cancellation. Thanks to AI, the ear buds can use internal and external mics to recognise your surroundings and actively adjust noise levels to create studio-quality audio. New gesture controls enable you to control the audio by pinching or swiping up or down. Oh, remember the Interpreter feature that comes with the new foldables? Paired with the Galaxy Buds3 or 3 Pro, the Interpreter app can translate audio to you in real-time. How cool is that!
