Whether you’re locked down at home or heading off for a road trip this summer, an eReader will help keep your boredom at bay by providing plenty of entertainment or food for thought. Kobo, the company behind some of the best eReaders on the market, has just announced two new additions to their lineup. The Kobo Sage and Libra 2 will be two of the company’s higher-end options and boast new features such as Bluetooth audiobooks and stylus support (Kobo Sage).
Kobo Libra 2
The Kobo Libra 2 is the next generation of the Libra H2O, and despite ditching ‘H2O’ from its name, it’s still waterproof with an IPX8 rating meaning it’ll survive for up to 60 minutes, up to 2 metres underwater. A step up from its predecessor, the Libra 2 has more storage and a faster 7” E Ink Carta 1200 touch screen that delivers a faster display, quicker page turns, and deeper contrast. With 32GB of storage, the Libra 2 has enough space to hold your entire library. It can fit up to 24,000 eBooks, 150 Kobo Audiobooks, or a combination of both with you, and you can take it everywhere you go. Just like the Kobo Sage, it has the added addition of Bluetooth® wireless technology so you can listen to Kobo Audiobooks (available in selected countries only). Kobo Libra 2's ergonomic design will feel good in your hands. You can keep the story moving by swiping the touchscreen, or using the page-turn buttons when one of those hands is full. You also have the option to read in landscape mode.
Kobo Sage
The Kobo Sage is the higher-end model of the two and follows in the footsteps of the Kobo Forma. Kobo refers to the Sage as their most accomplished eReader ever and it packs a bunch of features to back this up. The Sage delivers every feature Kobo offers in one sleek package, fitted with an excellent 8” HD flush E Ink Carta 1200 touch screen that delivers superior performance and depth of contrast, with zero glare. This means you’ll be able to read with ease and clarity regardless of whether you’re reading under the shade or under full sunlight at the beach. The Sage also offers two awesome new features with the first being stylus support (Stylus sold separately). If you’re someone who loves writing notes and comments as you read, this will really enhance your eReader experience. The Kobo Stylus enables you to handwrite your thoughts and ideas on your Kobo eReader, just like a pen on paper. You can mark up eBooks or documents and take notes in the built-in notebook feature. The Sage also comes with Bluetooth Bluetooth® wireless technology, meaning you’ll be able to pair a set of wireless headphones with your eReader to listen to audiobooks (available in selected countries)!
New to eReaders?
If you haven’t used an eReader before, these new Kobo devices will give you an excellent first experience. While there is something special about reading physical books, eReaders come with some great benefits that you’ll appreciate. Both the Kobo Sage and Kobo Libra 2 have an IPX8 rating meaning they’re perfect for reading in the bathtub. Their lightweight design also means you can comfortably hold them with one hand, and a backlit screen lets you read with clarity, even when the lights are out! They’re also perfect to take on trips and can store tens of thousands of books while hardly taking up space. If you haven’t purchased any eBooks? Kobo’s OverDrive lets you borrow eBooks from your local library.
