Nura first made an appearance in the NZ market late last year with a revolutionary new way to listen to audio. The NuraPhone and the NuraLoop showcased high-quality design, advanced technology, and personalised sound! Now Nura is back to deliver their offering in a form factor that has exploded in popularity as of late. The NuraTrue is the latest from Nura - a pair of earbuds that Nura claims to be the best wireless earbuds.
Nura’s Personalised Sound - How it works?
One of the most unique features of Nura’s headphones and earphones is the personalised sound! The NuraTrue (as well as NuraPhone and NuraLoop) plays a range of tones into the ear and then measures the very faint sound that your ear generates in response to these tones. This sound is called the Otoacoustic Emission (OAE). The small signal originates in the cochlea and vibrates the eardrum, sending a sound back out of your ear. Yup, that’s right! Our ears make their own sounds too, although it’s about 10,000 times smaller than the sound that went in.
Encoded in the returning sound wave is information that helps the NuraTrue understand your hearing. A self-learning engine within the NuraTrue helps to create your unique sound profile for an optimal listening experience. There are no buttons or knobs you need to mess around with; it all happens automatically and in about 60 seconds. With the creation of your hearing profile, the NuraTrue can sonically shape your music so that it matches your hearing system and adjusts the details for optimal delivery of music to your ears.
NEW - NuraTrue Wireless Earbuds
True wireless earbuds have exploded in popularity in recent years and Nura is joining the craze with the NuraTrue Wireless Earbuds. Much like its fellow Nura devices, the NuraTrue is all about delivering exemplary audio as well as a host of other features that help it stand out amongst the competition. Nura claims they’re the best wireless earbuds around, and at less than $300, you’d be getting an almighty deal! There’s quite a selection of impressive earbuds on the market so we won’t make a statement about that, but let’s take a look at the features and you can decide for yourself.
While we know that Nura has gone the extra mile to deliver great sound, the build and comfortability are just as important on a pair of wireless earbuds. A bad fit can not only be uncomfortable, but it can send all the work of great audio technology out the window. Luckily, NuraTrue is built with high-quality and durable materials. It comes with different kinds of silicone ear-tips, each a different size so you can find the perfect fit for your ears. They’re also sweat-resistant with an IPX4 rating, so your earbuds won’t get damaged no matter how hard a sweat you’re working up.

In addition to comfort, the perfectly fitting ear tips will provide great noise isolation as the small earbud builds are designed to fit inside the ear canal and block out external sound. On top of that, the NuraTrue’s are built with Active Noise Cancellation too. A small speaker embedded within the earbud plays an inverse frequency to cancel out existing ambient sounds. The active noise cancellation is good for low-frequency noise, such as droning, and the noise isolation is effective at blocking more immediate high and mid-frequency noises. Together, they deliver an immersive audio experience. If you want to be slightly more aware of your surroundings, you can toggle the noise cancellation off. This puts it in ‘Social Mode’ and lets you hear what’s going on around you.
While the battery life on the NuraTrue is nothing astounding, it’s very decent and offers about 6 hours of constant playback and 24 hours from the fast-charge case. That’s slightly more battery life than a number of leading earbuds on the market. And when you consider all the work that goes into providing constant high-quality audio and active noise cancellation, you can’t really complain. When they are running low on battery, the NuraTrue will communicate this to you commenting “Battery Low” when they need charging, or “Battery Critical” when they’re about to turn off. It takes two hours to fully charge both the earbuds and the charging case which is super quick!
