Asus have been making some great PC cases recently, and their new ROG Z11 is a premium ITX chassis with a unique and simply brilliant GPU mount position that makes for incredible gaming PC builds. The tilted motherboard tray design provides significant space for cable management and better airflow while positioning the graphics within the front (or top, we’ll get that soon) without the need for a riser cable!
This Z11 has already won RedDot, Good Design and CES Innovation 2020 awards, and I do wonder if the 11 in Z11 comes from the 11° angle Asus have designed for the motherboard tray - this patented interior layout that enabled an additional 40 mm of space at the back of the motherboard, enhancing heat dissipation around the CPU and graphics card.
While bound to the ITX form factor of motherboards, the chassis is compatibility with extremely large 3-slot graphics cards and creates a striking visual display of the GPU from behind a windowed panel. When standing tall this panel is right at the front of the PC, but you can position this case on its back too with the GPU facing upwards, the Z11 is designed for dual-orientation! Although small compared to most ATX sizes cases, the Z11 still offers space for water cooling, be that a 240mm AiO or a custom liquid cooling loop.
Asus know that ITX motherboards typically don’t have as many fan headers as we would like, so they’ve included a built-in extension hub with which we can connect up to six PWM fans and three addressable RGB fans or LED strips. The integrated addressable RGB LEDs in the front and side panels can be customized using a dedicated control button or with Aura Sync lighting software, making controlling a vast ecosystem of Aura Sync-compatible components easier than ever.
