Mi Airdots II
The best selling lists for true wireless earphones is often dominated by Apple Airpods, but a new set of AirDots II from Xiaomi has just launched, and thanks to a combination of affordable price and discreet style, they’ve caught the eyes of shoppers in NZ, and in just a few days following their release, have been catapulted into the top 5 selling headphones!
The Mi AirDots 2 are somewhat special because each earpiece has its own Bluetooth chip. So rather than transmitting the sound to the other unit, in the case of the AirDots 2 both earbuds can be connected to the device independently, you can use the eardots as a single earpiece if you want to. The low latency also means we can use our Mi Bluetooth earbuds with a PC and enjoy sound that is not delayed, especially essential when watching a film, a TV series or playing games!
The charging case and the headphones themselves are made of black plastic. The form factor is very similar to Apple Airpods but it doesn’t have the arm that hangs out of the ear, the fit is comfortable and included are three soft rubber tips in various sizes, to further improve the way Mi AirDots II fit in the ear. The shape of the earbuds fills the ear canal so that they fit snugly, while providing an immersive listening experience.
So, what are the improvements? AirDots 2 connect to your devices using Bluetooth 5.0 technology, which offers a faster and more stable connection than previous versions.
- iOS and Android compatible
- Built-in Mic for Hands-Free Calls / Voice Assistants
- Auto-pairing when removed from Power Case
- Rechargeable via included with Power Case (for hours of listening!)
- Up to 10m wireless range
- Each bud weighs only 4.1 grams
- Low latency, Bluetooth V5.0 connectivity
Although very small they’ve got easy access to functionality built-in. Give the touch sensors on the side of the earphone a soft tap and you’ll pause your music, or, if a call is coming in, quickly answer it.
Pairing up your new Mi AirDots 2 is very easy too, sync them with your smartphone then they'll connect automatically when you take them out of the case, and even go into mono or stereo mode automatically, depending on whether you take out one or both.
