PB Tech has been named New Zealand’s top retailer in both the Home Tech and Mobile Tech categories, winning the Consumer NZ People’s Choice Award for 2025. This recognition is based on Consumer NZ’s annual Retailer Satisfaction Survey, which gathered feedback from more than 3,200 Kiwi shoppers on their experiences with leading retailers around the country.

What sets PB Tech apart?

PB Tech delivered standout results in the survey, with customers ranking the retailer highly for value, pricing and product range.

Home Tech results:

  • 87% very satisfied customers, compared to a 75% category average
  • 98% total satisfied
  • Net Promoter Score of 61, compared to a category average of 41
  • 82% satisfaction for both product range and price
  • 88% satisfaction for the online shopping and ordering process

Mobile Tech results:

  • 84% very satisfied customers, compared to a 75% category average
  • 91% total satisfied
  • Net Promoter Score of 47, compared to a category average of 34
  • 82% satisfaction for product range and 79% for availability
  • 92% satisfaction for the online shopping and ordering process

These results were well above the industry benchmarks and met Consumer NZ’s criteria for the People’s Choice Award, which requires at least 65% very satisfied and 80% satisfied customers, along with a statistically significant lead over the category average.

Why New Zealanders choose PB Tech

Survey respondents highlighted PB Tech’s competitive pricing, value for money, and wide product range. Combined with a strong online shopping and ordering process, and good technical expertise, PB Tech continues to be a go-to destination for consumer tech.

About the Survey

The Consumer NZ Retailer Satisfaction Survey asks New Zealanders to reflect on purchases made in the past 12 months. It covers categories such as large and small appliances, home and mobile technology, computing, furniture, hardware, eyewear, and sports and outdoor products. Only people who have bought new, not second-hand, products in these categories are eligible to take part.

For each category, participants rate their most recent purchase experience. This includes:

  • Where the item was bought, meaning the retailer
  • Whether the purchase was made in-store or online
  • The reasons for choosing that store
  • How much was spent and whether it was discounted
  • Any follow-up or after-sales service received
  • Satisfaction with price, value for money, product range and availability, customer service, staff product knowledge, online shopping experience, delivery, and returns

Respondents also indicate how likely they are to recommend the store to others, which is used to calculate the Net Promoter Score.

The 2025 survey ran from June to July and received responses from 3,223 Consumer NZ members and supporters across New Zealand. Additional questions explored general shopping habits, preferences for online versus in-store shopping, changes in spending behaviour, and attitudes towards sustainability. Demographic details such as age, gender, region, ethnicity, income, household type, and living situation were also collected to help analyse the results across different groups.

PB Tech: leading the way in tech retail

With wins in both the Home Tech and Mobile Tech categories, PB Tech has reinforced its position as one of New Zealand’s most trusted tech retailers. Whether shopping in-store or online, customers can expect competitive prices, expert advice and an extensive range to suit almost any tech need.
