When I bought my first eReader about five years ago, I was obsessed! I loved how the screen felt like paper on my eyes, how I could read with the lights off at night, and how I could carry hundreds of books with me in a slim and light package. Over time, especially as I began reading more non-fiction books for learning and personal development, I found myself beginning to gravitate back towards hard copy books. I like having the ability to highlight, annotate, and write notes in my books - it’s the best way for me to absorb as much of it as possible and unfortunately, that wasn’t all that possible or convenient with my eReader. But with a new and enhanced eReader like the Kobo Elipsa 2E, I am drawn back in and excited about the fact that I can go back to having all of my books - notes and all - in one lightweight device.

“For avid nonfiction readers, eBooks have historically been an imperfect medium because they couldn’t mark up the text and engage with the content as effectively as with a print book. With the introduction of Kobo Stylus, we have solved that and with Kobo Elipsa 2E and our upgraded Kobo Stylus 2, we have created a superior reading experience for nonfiction fans.” said Michael Tamblyn, CEO of Rakuten Kobo. “Kobo Elipsa 2E is the latest step in our journey to make reading lives better, bridging gaps between print and digital books, and offering an unparalleled reading experience. We understand that, for many of our valued customers, reading is more than words on a page. It is about engaging with ideas. Marking up, highlighting, capturing inspiration in infinite notebooks of almost magical capability using a versatile, intuitively-designed stylus – these are essential for capturing the thoughts and ideas that reading inspires.”

The original Kobo Elipsa first hit the shelves in 2021, offering an eReader that lets you do more than just read books, but also annotate, take notes, and mark up files. Earlier this year, Kobo released a freshly upgraded digital reading and writing experience in the new Elipsa 2E - designed for readers who want to engage with their eBooks and expand on ideas like never before. The latest edition brings several enhancements including a new front-lit display that provides better illumination and temperature control (in an upgrade from ComfortLight to ComfortLight PRO); a faster processor; new software enhancements; it is now chargeable via USB-C; and it comes bundled with the new and improved Kobo Stylus 2, which offers a better and faster writing experience. The ergonomically redesigned and rechargeable Kobo Stylus 2 allows you to easily wipe away mistakes with the dedicated eraser on the back and highlight those standout passages with the highlighter button.

All of the other great features found on the Kobo Elipsa are carried over onto the Elipsa 2E. Featuring a 10.3” touchscreen with ComfortLight PRO which includes adjustable brightness and colour temperature, you can read with comfort both day and night. Want to annotate or mark up your books? No problem. You can write directly on eBooks and PDFs (except for documents with digital rights management or permission limitations). Additionally, you can create and organise notebooks that do more than a regular notepad, including converting handwriting to text, quick edits with the lasso tool, and even export your notebooks with integrated cloud services like Kobo Cloud, Dropbox and Google Drive. Other features worth noting is the ability to pair your Kobo Elipsa 2E with your wireless headphones, speaker, or car stereo to listen to Kobo Audiobooks; or borrow eBooks from participating public libraries to read on your Kobo eReader for free! 32GB of storage means the Elipsa 2E is capable of holding hundreds of eBooks and audio books that you can effortlessly take with you everywhere.

As well as being more eco-conscious through less hard copy books, a Kobo eReader helps you take it that one step further. Kobo is dedicated to using certified recycled materials whenever possible in its eReaders, while still meeting the technical requirements needed to provide an unparalleled eReading device. The exterior of the Elipsa 2E consists of over 85% recycled plastic, including 10% ocean-bound plastic, which is discarded waste that would otherwise end up in our oceans. The recycled plastics used are internationally certified and conform to stringent global standards for recycled materials in consumer goods. Additionally, Kobo's packaging is not only magnet-free but also crafted from FSC-certified recycled paper and printed with soy ink, making it one of the most environmentally friendly and sustainable printing methods available.
