Whether you're in the market for a new eReader or considering a paperless experience, Kobo offers a variety of eReaders you should consider.

Popular among many bookworms and behind some of the best and well-loved eReaders in the market, Kobo has a new device to include in their line-up.

The more eco-conscious way to read and listen

The Kobo Clara 2E is the first of its kind, with the exterior made of 85% recycled plastic, including 10% ocean-bound plastic.

Ocean-bond plastic (OBP) is abandoned waste that will likely end up in the ocean. Around 20% of plastic waste in the ocean comes from marine sources, while 80% comes from land.

Although creating sustainable products won't solve the global plastic pollution issue, especially since New Zealanders throw away a daily estimate of 159 grams of waste per person, Kobo's new Clara 2E is definitely a step in the right direction.

In the coming year, Kobo plans to divert over 200,000 plastic bottles from the planet's ocean and over a million CDs and DVDs from landfills. At the same time, they're partnering with Terrapass, a leader in carbon offset and renewable energy, to reduce carbon emissions.

Kobo's SleepCover is also made from recycled polyester with the inner microfiber lining from 40% recycled plastic water bottles, making it the perfect eco-conscious partner to the Clare 2E eReader.

With the release of Clara 2E, Kobo is also introducing new packing for their devices, including magnet-free and FSC-certified recycled paper.

What's new in the Kobo Clara 2E?

The Clara 2E differs slightly from its predecessor, the Clara HD, which now supports Bluetooth connectivity, a feature only available to higher-end devices like the Libra 2 and Sage.

It's also now fully waterproof, meeting the IPX8 rating, and has more storage space of 16GBs, allowing users to store up to 12,000 eBooks or 75 Kobo Audiobooks.

With ComfortLight Pro, you can adjust the brightness on the eReader, reducing eye strain for long reading sessions. It also comes with the addition of Dark mode, a popular feature many Kobo readers have been requesting for a long time.

Like the Clara HD, the Clara 2E features the same 6-inch glare-free touch display. With the latest Carta 1200 technology, the Clara 2E has a noticeably better screen contrast, faster refresh rate and page turns than the previous 300ppi Carta display on the Clara HD.
