For those upgrading from an Intel based system to new Ryzen one, the naming style is thankfully very similar, whereas previously we would look for Intel i5, i7 and i9, we now look for Ryzen 5, 7 and 9, and if we want to grab the absolute latest, that's the Ryzen 6000 series.

It's fair to say all the options below are great for everything from online shopping to everyday work or study, but we used the term "gaming" because all models below feature Nvidia ShadowPlay so you can capture or stream gameplay directly from the laptop while you play, without the need for additional hardware. Previously, anything labeled "gaming" implied enough RGB to make your eyeballs bleed, thankfully that's not a condition with our list.
Having dedicated graphics also makes them excellent machines for photo and video editing - and if you are worried about battery life, don't be - you can temporarily disable the power-hungry Nvidia graphics and run off integrated graphics just like normal laptops do.
Price is our primary factor for the position on this list (price/performance for the win!), but we'll also be looking closely at both the design of the chassis and the component specs used within, and with new laptop options from all the top brands incoming, we expect this list to grow fast as MSI, Razer, HP Omen, Asus & Acer all start competing for the top spots!
