The MagSafe charger makes wireless charging snappy and adds convenience and versatility to your charge. The perfectly aligned magnets snap automatically into place on the back of your phone and provides 15W fast wireless charging. You’ll also be able to charge your AirPods or AirPods Pro on this but don’t expect magnetic results. The MagSafe Charger maintains compatibility with Qi charging, so it can be used to wirelessly charge your iPhone 8 or later. If you want to enjoy the fast charging capabilities though, your phone will need to be an iPhone 12 or later.
The MagSafe Battery Pack will power your phone through a long day at work or while you’re out and about. It attaches with a snap to your phone, making on-the-go charging easy. Unlike bulky charging cases of the past, the MagSafe Battery Pack has a compact and intuitive design that doesn’t get in the way. It has perfectly aligned magnets that keep it attached to your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro, providing safe and reliable wireless charging. Don’t get this mistaken for a power bank and expect a big boost in battery life. When you’re out and about, the MagSafe will charge your phone at 5W. At this rate, it helps to prolong your battery life throughout your day without generating too much heat. If you want to increase the rate it charges, plugging in a lightning cable will speed it up (especially with a 20W or higher power adaptor).
The MagSafe Battery Pack was designed for the iPhone 12 lineup and won’t work on earlier iPhones. It will snap right onto the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. The charging happens automatically so there’s no need to turn it on or off. An added perk is that the MagSafe can also charge the Qi-enabled AirPods Pro and AirPods in their cases.
It’s a pretty handy accessory to have on hand, especially if you own the iPhone 12 mini which has a shorter battery life than the rest. The price point is slightly on the high side but that can’t be that surprising. While there are other battery packs and charging accessories on the market, it’s pretty safe to assume that Apple-made products always work best with other Apple products.
