There are certain times when smartphones just aren’t enough. When you’re looking at recipes, watching videos, reading, or taking notes, it’s often much easier and more enjoyable on a larger screen. That’s why tablets are quickly becoming one of the top companion devices people own. With countless tablets to choose from, finding the right one can be difficult or overwhelming. To help make things easier for you, we’ve put together a list of our Top Tablets for 2022 featuring devices from the brands Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, Amazon and Microsoft.
Samsung Tab S8 range
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 range is the best you can get from Samsung, and for many, that makes the top-of-the-range Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra the best high-end Android tablet on the market. Samsung released this tablet in 2022 and it packs an impressive spec list. The Tab S8 Ultra sports a 14.6” Super AMOLED display, runs on Android 12, and the base model comes with 8GB of memory and 128GB of storage. You can also add a microSD card for an extra 1TB of storage. With a tablet of this size and spec, it can easily fill in as a laptop replacement once you add the Book Cover Keyboard. Once connected, you’ll be able to use Samsung DeX on the tablet, effectively turning it into an Android-powered 2-in-1 device. If you’re on the fence about shelling out for a top-of-the-line Android tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 or Tab S8 Plus are also fantastic choices and a little bit easier on the wallet.
Lenovo Tab M10
The Lenovo Tab M10 HD packs a punch with great features at an affordable price. It sports a 10.3-inch Full HD screen and is powered by a MediaTek P22 Octa-Core processor with up to 2.3GHz main frequency, 4GB of RAM, and super-fast WiFi to deliver the speed you need to stay entertained without interruptions. It also boasts enhanced audio, thanks to dual speakers tuned by Dolby Atmos, making it an all-around great tablet for entertainment! In addition, the M10 hosts a bunch of family-friendly features like parental controls, curated kids’ content, and TÜV Rheinland-certified eye protection to reduce eye strain. The Tab M10 isn’t the most high-powered tablet available but it’s affordable, while offering solid performance for the needs of most adults and teenagers, and will definitely do the job for kids.
Amazon Fire HD
If you’re looking for the best tablet for a smaller budget, Amazon’s Fire HD is a great choice. It packs a quad-core 1.3GHz processor which provides surprisingly fast performance for a tablet this affordable. Although it’s quite snappy when navigating apps or browsing the web, don’t expect any frills that come with higher-priced tablets. The Fire HD is available with 32GB of storage or 64GB of storage, but if that’s not enough, you can add a further 512GB with a microSD card. The 10.1-inch FHD screen won’t be as crisp and vibrant as what you’d find on higher-end tablets, but it’s still a good media consumption device for this price, especially for the kids. You won’t find Google apps or even the Google Play Store on here, but Amazon’s own App Store has many of the same apps that other Android devices have, such as Netflix, Facebook, and Spotify. While it’s not the fastest or feature-rich tablet on the market, the Amazon Fire HD is perfect for anyone who just wants to browse the internet, watch videos, or check email without spending a whole lot of money.
Microsoft Surface Pro 8
The latest addition to Microsoft’s lineup of 2-in-1 Surface Pro tablets is the Surface Pro 8 and it’s the most significant leap the lineup has seen since the Pro 3. While it mostly maintains the same iconic look as the previous generation, there are a number of improvements that enhance the device as both a laptop and tablet. The Pro 8 features a larger 13-inch 120Hz display with thinner bezels (compared to the previous 12.3-inch 60Hz display with thick bezels) in a small, lightweight design that makes it perfect to use at home or on the go. It’s more than twice as fast as the Pro 7 with an 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor, up to 32GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, and built on the Intel® Evo™ platform. It also has a removable SSD and two Thunderbolt 4 ports. These performance gains, as well as the addition of Windows 11 and up to 16 hours of battery life, makes the Surface Pro 8 a super-powerful 2-in-1 and the best tablet choice for Windows users. To get the most out of this tablet and have it double up as a laptop, add a Microsoft Pro Type cover. If you’re creatively inclined, you might enjoy the addition of a Microsoft Surface Pen too.
Apple iPad Pro 11” & 12.9”
If you’re after ultimate power and performance, the iPad Pro is the one for you. This spectacular tablet is powered by an M1 chipset – lifted straight from Apple Macs – to provide you with desktop power in a tablet as small as 11-inches. Both the iPad Pro 11” & 12.9” have bright, beautiful displays with a 120Hz refresh rate, but the 12.9-inch steps it up a notch with a Mini LED screen that has a remarkable brightness, 2048x2732 resolution, and crisper, more vibrant images. If you’re planning to use your tablet for creative work or you’re heavily into tablet gaming, the 12.9” will be perfect for you. If you don’t need the best of the best, you’ll probably find that the iPad Pro 11” is the better option for you. It has its own perks such as being significantly cheaper, smaller, lighter, and more portable. If you have extra cash to spend and want to go all out on the iPad Pro experience, add an Apple Keyboard or an Apple Pencil and unlock more creative freedom and control.
