The over-ear wireless headphone space has long been led by the likes of Sony, Bose, and Apple, but with the release of Technics' flagship EAH-A800 Over-Ear Wireless Headphones, there’s some new competition. Technics' EAH-A800 over-ear headphones promise high resolution audio, superior call quality and exceptional over-the-ear comfort for home, work and travel.
The Technics EAH-A800 headphones pack 40mm drivers that the company says are the result of its experience building hi-fi audio gear. An Acoustic Control Chamber manages air flow to assist with driver performance and bass response, helping to deliver deep bass with minimal distortion.
To ensure you get the most of that superior sound, the headphones also boast industry-leading active noise cancellation. It’s not just run-of-the-mill ANC however, instead utilising Technics’ dual hybrid setup that combines an analogue filter and feed-back mic, with a feed-forward mic and digital filter to minimise noise inside and out. When you need to go light on the noise cancellation, the EAH-A800 has two modes to choose from: Transparent Mode and Attention Mode. Transparent mode captures voices and other surrounding sounds, leading to a natural sound similar to not wearing headphones at all, while attention mode reduces unwanted external noise to make it easier to hear people's voices (perfect when you need to hear airport announcements, etc).
Technics also makes big promises when it comes to call clarity, positioning the EAH-A800 as a pair of headphones that is a great choice for both home and office work. A total of eight microphones – four to pick up the speaker’s voice and four to tackle any environmental noise – work together to produce clear and natural-sounding call quality. Technics also provides multi-point pairing, which will allow you to connect to two devices simultaneously over Bluetooth and easily switch between them.
One of the most impressive claims about the EAH0A800 is the 50-hour battery life! Technics promises up to 50 hours on a single charge with ANC on. You can quick-charge the headphones for just 15 minutes to get 10 hours of playback.
