UPDATE: AMD Ryzen 5000 CPU range is available now in the Ryzen & AMD Store

AMD have just revealed some of their upcoming 5000 series Ryzen CPU options, which are set to release globally in November.

CEO Lisa Su took to the stage, along with a host of AMD experts Mark Papermaster and Robert Hallock, to reveal the new Ryzen CPU products. What followed was an explanation of what AMD wanted and have achieved with their Ryzen CPU series, and a series of performance demonstrations with some potent performance uplifts shown, using their own 3900XT to showcase the performance increase offered by the 5900X - showing an FPS increases in a range of games, even when compared to the flagship Intel i9-10900K.

First AMD showed the performance increase VS their own current gen CPU

Then AMD took on the current Intel flagship i9-10900K

It’s amazing to see a CPU increase performance by this much, especially as this is an in-socket upgrade, using a current gen motherboard.

  • Ryzen 5600X, 6 Core - 12 Thread with 4.6GHz Boost
  • Ryzen 5800X, 8 Core - 16 Thread with 4.7GHz Boost
  • Ryzen 5900X, 12 Core - 24 Thread with 4.8GHz Boost
  • Ryzen 5950X, 16 Core - 32 Thread with 4.9GHz Boost

With a November global release date now set for Ryzen 5000 series, we look forward to the next AMD event coming October 28th (Here in NZ, likely the 29th), during which we hope to see more on the new Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards, which was shown, well, more like teased, at the very end of this presentation too.

Same. Looking forward to seeing how it performs under an EK block. Watercooled is really the only way to go for this CPU

Hi Everyone, thanks for waiting on me, the PB warehouse team has now fully stocked in our first shipments of the AMD 5000 series CPU, including small numbers of both Ryzen 9 5900X + 5950X. The next shipment is ETA 20/11/2020 - thank you all!

Hi Gerard, we've received a lot of 5900X + 5950X now (these have begun shipping/shipped to those with first orders already), The second shipment due later this week (20th ETA) should fulfil all remaining backorders. Both the 5900X and 5950X will become orderable online again soon, 5800X and 5600X have high stock levels available now.

Hi Ben, From talking to the web sales contact they say they are not expecting another shipment of 5950x’s until the 27th, they also said I was 11th in the queue and I haven’t received any notification my order is ready. This is very different to you saying you have received lots and the next batch is s expected on the 20th, can you please clarify what is going on here?

Hi Ben, thanks for the update even though this is disappointing news. Is there any way to understand where we are in the queue and which shipment/timing we are likely to get the CPU? My build only needs this processor to be complete so is a little bit frustrating with the lack of clarity on arrival date. I also see others have theirs shipping out to them yet I pre-ordered bang on 3am which is also a little confusing and frustrating.

I ordered a 5950x the moment sales went live. ETA was stated as being the 17th. Now you're saying this isn't the case? There better be some on the way.....

I also ordered a 5900X at 3am & said would ship on Tuesday 17th Nov, but now says 1st Dec. From what I have seen at other websites in NZ no one has any 5900X or 5950X CPU's yet, which probable means the release of the RX 6800 XT cards on the 18th will be the same.

I ordered at exactly 3am and I got a response saying they didn't have any physically in stock, but they were expecting a shipment yesterday (but it hadn't arrived as of ~5pm) and they expected it to be ready for pickup on 23/11
